Primary students participate in the Young Authors workshop in Monterrey

On February 9-11, 2024, at the English School of Monterrey, the Young Authors workshop took place, in which 6 primary students from the Puebla American School participated.  The theme of the event this year was Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. Each student was selected and sorted into a house during the Sorting Ceremony, true to the style of the famous novels by J.K. Rowling.

During the workshop, young authors were exposed to the process of written expression, with a touch of magic. From the creation of a magical character to writing about powers from a magic wand, students had the opportunity to learn during interesting conferences about creative writing.

Children created their own written stories, slogans for wizards and witches, movie trailers, and much more. They also participated in a scavenger hunt, created their own magic wand, as well as a creature from the magical world.

To close the event, an awards ceremony took place. Students from the Puebla American School demonstrated outstanding performance and received awards based on the categories and theme of the event. The following awards were received by our students:

Mariel García and Sofía Domínguez won the scavenger hunt for Slytherin House;
Valentina Salaburu won Outstanding Performance in the 2024 Young Authors workshop.

These were days of intense creativity, imagination, and specialized techniques to bring ideas  to the written word.
